Starter activity
1. Class Discussion:
What did the children have for breakfast or lunch.
Where did the food come from?
Main activities
1. Class Activity:
Watch Videoscribe: 'food chains'.
2. Group Activity:
Use pictures/words and arrows.
Can the children arrange them into four separate food chains?
3. Class Activity:
Watch film: 'food chains in a habitat: the pond'.
4. Group Activity:
Give the children a particular food chain from the work above.
Can the children suggest something which might affect a part of the chain? (eg no rain so grass dies).
Plenary activity
Q: Why is there always an animal at the top of the chain?
