Learning Objectives
By the end of these two lessons pupils should:

Consolidate themes of habitat and food chains by creating a facsimile pond in the classroom, to include all necessary detail of flora and fauna which could be expected in this habitat.

Starter activity
1. Class Activity:
Watch Powerpoint: 'the pond'.
Main activity
1. Class/Group Project Activity:
a. Devise and develop a pond (which makes best use of your resources).
b. Groups of children could work on different areas of the project eg making plants/modelling animals, birds, amphibians/making rocks and landscape features etc.
c. Children should be encouraged to label and annotate the different parts of the pond, including the food chains.
d. The project should be recorded in some way, perhaps through film or photo. You could possibly make an Attenborough-style film presentation.
e. Children could give guided tours to other classes as if it were a real pond.
Plenary activity
