Introduce concept of the Apgar test - the set of measurements when a baby is born.

2. Teaching point/Discussion:
Introduce the concept that babies are closely monitored in the first months of their lives for body length and weight.
What do the children think can be learnt from these two measurements?
3. Class Activity:
Watch Powerpoint: 'centile charts'.
4. Individual Activity:
Use data sheet to draw a centile chart for a healthy baby.
5. Class Activity:
Watch Powerpoint: 'developmental milestones' showing stages of lifting head/rolling/sitting up/ crawling/standing up/ walking.
