1. Class Discussion:

How long do the children think man has been on earth?

 

Main activities 

1. Class Activity: 

Watch Powerpoint: 'human evolution'.

 

2. Group Activity:

Sequence pictures of hominid/human skulls. Share results with class.

 

3. Individual Activity:

Make a timeline of human evolution (using last slide of Powerpoint above as reference).

 

4. Class Activity:

Watch film: 'man's place in the evolutionary tree'

 

5. Class Activity:

Use the short playscript 'The Great Debate' to act out the opposing reactions to Darwin's theory of evolution.
