Wildlife Aid Education is a completely free service of education and support provided to schools, parents and children by leading wildlife charity the Wildlife Aid Foundation (WAF).

 

The Wildlife Aid Foundation is dedicated to the rescue, care and rehabilitation of sick, injured and orphaned animals. The Foundation operates a major wildlife hospital and rehabilitation centre in Surrey, one of the three largest such hospitals in the UK, dealing with more than 20,000 wildlife incidents a year, and returning 70% of them to the wild. WAF's policy is to return animals to the wild wherever possible.

 

The Foundation also maintains a referral service for wildlife hospitals throughout Europe and beyond, as well as carrying out active environmental and educational roles. Since the 1990's the Foundation's work has been the focus of the popular TV series Wildlife SOS on Discovery Channel's 'Animal Planet, and now online at www.wildlifeaid.org.net.

 

Established in 1980 by its founder, Simon Cowell MBE, Wildlife Aid's activities have steadily increased in scale over the past three decades. Today, in addition to its core full-time staff, the organisation relies on over 300 volunteers to provide a year-round 24/7 animal rescue and rehabilitation service for the South-East of England. The Foundation's facilities currently include two operating theatres, a pathology lab, and an intensive care unit.

 

The Wildlife Aid Foundation receives no government or public funding of any kind and instead relies entirely on the financial support of very many individual people and organisations to carry out its work.
